VOIDHÄMMER - NOXIOUS EMISSIONS

Out now via Caligari Records - Voidhämmer’s Noxious Emissions arrives as a blunt corrective to the over articulated end of contemporary death metal. The Los Angeles trio, with members drawn from Swampbeast and Crematory Stench, operate with a clear objective in mind, reduce the form to pressure, filth, and complete motion.

The sound is raw, and the production preserves abrasion without collapsing. Guitars swollen, locked into riffs that lurch between crust borne momentum and death metal churn. The tone suggests decay instead of aggression, edging closer to suffocation than violence. Vocals are impersonal, submerged into the mix as another instrument rather than a focal point.

‍

“Rotting in Excrement” establishes the language immediately, with mid-tempo crawl giving way to D-beat propulsion. “Cadaveric Bloat” ignites the crust influence even more, pushing forward with punk velocity before dropping into heavier, grinding passages. “Phosphorized” is the most focused cut, its tighter structure and sharper transitions giving the demo its strongest sense of identity. Closing track “Coffin Leakage” leans hardest on rhythm, driven by Bogdon’s drumming, which consistently carries the material with restraint and control.

‍

Noxious Emissions lineage is obvious. Coffins, Morbid Angel, and Disrupt sit in the background, but Voidhämmer avoid the imitation route by committing fully to density. This is by no means exploratory music. It’s functional, oppressive, and deliberate. As a debut, this one succeeds by making its intent clear from the very beginning. Exactly how it should be.
