Sabaton — Legends

Sabaton’s Legends is a fucking power metal war march through time. Eleven tracks, each one dedicated to a historical icon, and every single song sounds like it was built to be played in a coliseum at full noise. From the holy fire of “Templars” to the fist pumping chaos of “Hordes of Khan,” this is Sabaton at their biggest, boldest, and most badass.

Joakim Brodén is in absolute command with that voice still sounding like a general barking orders through smoke and gunfire. Riffage courtesy of Chris Rörland and Thobbe Englund are ridiculously sharp as hell, layered with choirs that make the whole thing sound biblical. “I, Emperor” rips with Napoleon sized arrogance, while “Maid of Steel” (Joan of Arc) burns like molten steel. “The Duelist,” inspired by Miyamoto Musashi, is straight up lethal, a fight or die anthem that shows Sabaton swinging for the throat when they need to

Prod-wise, Jonas Kjellgren damn nailed it, heavy as fuck but crystal clear. Hearing every stomp, every choral swell & every goddamn snare hit crystal clear just shows how pro Sabaton are with their craft. And the artwork? A visual overload that matches the music’s scale perfectly.

After two decades, Sabaton could’ve coasted but instead, they dropped a record that feels totally unashamed of its own ridiculous grandeur. Legends isn’t just history retold, it’s history reforged in molten heavy metal.
