METALITE - Discovery

Starting off with the star Erica Ohlsson; she is a strong vocalist, melodic and full of determined harmony that brings a powerful punch to the legendary anthemic nature that is Discovery as an album. Choruses are catchy and spark a flame. “In Case of Emergency” is a strong example of this, and “The Metal Elite” is an instant Metalite classic. “Echoes of You” dials it back with a more emotive piece, showing some mood diversity. “Supremacy of One” holds so much power on its own, but the album overall is held up by the vocal work.

Together, Edwin Premberg and Robert Örnesved provide energy with electric riffing. The solos in “Neon Rain,” “Wings of Fire” and “Captive in the Past” are some highlights of the guitarist's work. Paired with Robert Majd’s basswork, giving those tracks that extra ‘oomph’ such as that in “Starchild”. Erik Juntilla shakes the earth on drums with high energy on “Cyberspace”, “Neon Rain” and “Captive in the Past”. Timing is consistent and the layout of songs gives it a cleanly produced, structured sound. The tales are in the lyrics, the riffs and the sprinkling of the cybernetic.

The energy of Discovery remains high until the very end, with the ending song “Triforce” bound to drive nostalgia with its lyrics and high fantasy sound. It is a highlight for sure and a memorable end to the twelve-track epic, ending on a zenith.

Discovery is futuristic and fun, full of imagination, determination and hope. There’s a charged, consistent energy that electrifies each track and keeps the spirits soaring. Discovery takes you on a journey into the future, full of invigorated wonder.
