Out now via @reigningphoenixmusicofficial Germany’s costumed crusaders Grailknights have always walked a fine line between parody and power, delivering tongue in cheek hero metal with the kind of unrelenting theatricality that could make even Gloryhammer blush. Their seventh studio album, Forever, doesn’t rewrite the genre’s rulebook, but it’s packed with enough galloping riffs, laser bright hooks, and unashamed camp to power a small comic con.

Opener “Yes Sire!” kicks things off with disco flair before settling into a solid arena ready stomp, whilst “Grail Gym” brings the sort of flex fuelled absurdity that makes you grin even as you roll your eyes. The production from @saschapaethofficial ( @avantasiaofficial , @kamelotofficial ) lends the record a glossy sheen, though the drums could use a little more bite. “Necronomicon” delivers a genuine jolt with double bass fire and a Rhapsody-esque bridge proving the Knights can still wield serious power when they choose to
Elsewhere in the record, @_chiaratricarico_ guest turn on the power ballad “In The Eyes Of The Enemy” injects some welcome emotion amid the cartoon chaos, while “Grailforce One” and “Powerlift” channel the band’s inner @electriccallboy with slick, synthy energy. Closing anthem “Forever” is pure OG glory making way for fists in the air, and a chorus made for a festival crowd of headbanging superheroes.
Sure, Forever veers dangerously close to self parody at times, but it’s delivered with such heart, humour, and melodic might that you can’t help but give in. The Knights ride again! Ridiculous, radiant, and relentlessly fun.
Standouts: “Necronomicon,” “Grailforce One,” “Forever.”
