Equilibrium - Equinox

Out Nov 28 via Nuclear Blast Records - Equinox marks Equilibrium’s return with a clean sense of direction. The band cuts away the excess and rebuilds its core with tighter writing and utterly sharp control. René Berthiaume and Jessica Rösch guide the shift with precision, while new vocalist Fabian Getto adds something extra without distorting the framework.

The record balances organic instrumentation with modern production. “Earth Tongue” lays out the template with rhythmic drive, broad melody, and atmosphere used structurally rather than as decoration. Its abrupt pacing signals the album’s intent to move on with purpose.

“Awakening” expands that clarity. The track leans on momentum and ascending lines, restoring the scale that defined the band’s earlier work. It avoids bloat and relies on movement instead of layering.

“Legends” and “Gnosis” fold electronic elements into the folk-metal base. The approach stays disciplined, melody carries the weight, density provides the impact, and nothing spills outside the song’s boundaries. “Bloodwood” pushes the storytelling further, treating myth as a living presence, not a backdrop.

The album’s final section is its strongest. “Borrowed Waters” uses restraint to reset the pacing. “Nexus” closes with stacked melodies and deliberate escalation, tying the record’s themes together without excess.

Rösch’s hand drawn artwork reinforces the album’s grounded approach. Everything is built in house, and the result feels controlled, direct, and utterly human at best.
