Available now via Reigning Phoenix Music - Ten years into their existence, CYHRA arrive at an ultra defining moment. What began as a collab between former Amaranthe vocalist Jake E and In Flames architect Jesper Strömblad, has evolved into a band standing on its own merits instead of the pedigree of its members.

Rather than reinventing themselves, CYHRA refine what has always set them apart. Melodic metal that sounds utterly massive, crisp songwriting, and enough Scandinavian grit to keep things grounded. The difference this time around lies deep in the emotional side of things. Beneath soaring choruses, and pristine production sits a record shaped by uncertainty, and complete perseverance.
Opening tracks “Bleed With Pride” and “Superman” give us a taste of the album’s balance between melodic metal and classic Gothenburg influence. Strömblad’s fingerprints remain solid in the guitar work, while Jake E delivers some of the most committed vocal performances of his career. His melodies feel more personal, giving material a sense of urgency often missing from radio friendly metal.
The album’s strengths emerge when CYHRA steps beyond familiar territory. “Miss Me When I’m Gone” and “Ghost I’m Meant To Be” tackle themes of loss, and fading dreams with sincerity. “Skin From Bones” brings forth electronic textures without losing heaviness, while “Mark Of My Sins” explores darker, almost gothic moods.
Not every experiment lands perfectly, and a handful of tracks lean too heavily on established melodic metal conventions. Even so, the songwriting remains engaging. Bonus track “Hold Your Fire,” featuring Samy Elbanna, injects a welcome burst of aggression and closes the record on a high note.
Requiem For A Pipe Dream finds CYHRA sounding focused, and creatively rejuvenated. A decade after their formation, they have delivered their most complete album to date.
