Bizarrekult - Alt Som Finnes

Out February 20 via Season of Mist - Bizarrekult’s Alt Som Finnes is the bands third album, abandoning distance and restraint in favor of exposure. Where earlier releases balanced introspection with atmosphere, this record presses further inward, documenting complete collapse. Roman V.’s long running project, rooted in Norwegian black metal but shaped by personal fracture, reaches its most direct and punishing form here.

The album’s eight tracks operate as psychological stations rather than standalone compositions. “Hun” establishes the presence, an all seeing figure that judges, waits, and suffocates. From there, Alt Som Finnes moves through guilt, paralysis, anger, and exhaustion. Riffs are utterly sharp and traditionally blackened, but they are repeatedly destabilized by post metal ambience and pacing. Drums drive urgently, often locking into relentless patterns that deny any sign of relief. Bass lines thicken the sound into something physical and claustrophobic.

‍

Vocals are this record’s primary weapon. Roman’s delivery oscillates between raw howls and controlled anguish, carrying the emotional weight of the lyrics. Guest appearances are integrated with discipline. Yusaf “Vicotnik” Parvez’s clean vocals on “Blikket Hennes” arrives as a momentary intrusion of clarity. Lina R. and Kim Song Sternkopf contribute texture and contrast, reinforcing the album’s strong sense of shared, unresolved struggle.

‍

Thematically, Alt Som Finnes is consumed by powerlessness, shame, and identity erosion. Songs “Avmakt” and “Verdens Verste” strip social and personal failure down to accusation. Even moments that suggest hope are brief and fragile, quickly swallowed by returning weight. The closing track, “Tomhet,” sung in English, expands the scope without softening impact, ending the record in collective emptiness.

‍

This is not a comforting album, nor an exploratory one. Alt Som Finnes is confrontation rendered with clarity, discipline, and refusal to console.

SCORE 8/10
