Building on the darkly immersive legacy of Lélekharang , Öröklét draws listeners into a vast, mystical soundscape where icy black metal grandeur meets the solemn elegance of classical composition. The album features four original compositions alongside a reimagined interpretation of Franz Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 2 – Andante con moto , seamlessly merging atmospheric black metal with centuries-old musical tradition.
Formed in 2010, Gere Karola (synths, vocals) and Neubauer Roland (guitars, drums, vocals) have steadily refined WitcheR’s ritualistic approach, drawing inspiration from Summoning , early Dimmu Borgir , and Wolves in the Throne Room . Their sound balances expansive synth layers, haunting melodies, and lyrical themes rooted in witchcraft, Hungarian folklore, and resistance to the modern world. Previous releases include Csendes domb (2015) and A gyertyák csonkig égnek (2019).
“This record is not merely music. It is a gateway. A moment of realization, when one understands that everything fades… and yet, everything remains eternal.”
— WitcheR
The year-long creative process allows the video to convey the passage of time itself, reinforcing the song’s central themes of cyclicality, renewal, and the permanence left behind by all things that pass.
“This song and this video are about time. About how everything returns, and nothing passes without leaving a trace.”
