"Corpse Light" brings together blast beats, wailing guitar feedback, haunted vocals and undulating rhythm and melody, spanning the full breadth of Dreamspeed’s sound. Encompassing parts torn and re-imagined from a much longer 10-minute demo, the track is often the brutal resolution to their live set. Lyrically, it's about becoming damned, reflecting on the sorrow and despair of the moon-mirrored towers of Minas Morgul from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, interwoven with loveless promises of vengeance.
The single comes equipped with a haunting music video, filmed inside sculpture artist Greg Molloy’s Rook Ari studio. Molloy’s imposing metal sculptures, known as "beasts", loom throughout the space, illuminated and enduring against the darkness. Shot by Rowan Hardy (Gloam), the video shifts between harsh spotlit shadows and dynamic, distorted frames, reflecting the track’s volatile and oppressive atmosphere.
Both the single and EP artwork is steeped in darkness. The "Corpse Light" artwork features a monochromatic underpainting from first single "A Ditch of Your Dimensions", by vocalist and oil painter Han Gunn. The artwork lays bare textures of flame and ruin, depicting a swallow with burning breath, brooding amongst storm smothered embers above a burning world.
Established in June 2025, Dreamspeed have quickly carved out a name within Australia’s heavy underground, combining depressive doom, post-black metal and screamo into something distinctly their own. Han Gunn (vocals), Oli Booth (guitar), Daniel Hacking (bass) and George Blacklock (drums) channel influences including Deafhaven, Agalloch, Ragana, Worm, Blind Girls and Bismuth, alongside sounds spanning death-doom and black metal. Their music is an emotional and sonic wall of dark melancholy; haunted by harsh vocals and driven by unrelenting percussion with twisting, distorted guitar melody overlaid.

Their upcoming six-track EP, Demo, was self recorded and mixed by the band at Sumo Sound Studios with George Blacklock and Daniel Hacking handling recording, and Blacklock also taking on mixing and mastering duties. "Corpse Light" follows the release of "A Ditch of Your Dimensions", which arrived in March as Dreamspeed’s debut single and the first taste of Demo.
"Corpse Light" is out now and streaming everywhere. 'Demo' the EP will be out Friday 6 November.
